Common causes, in order of likelihood
Broken drive belt
The most common cause by far. Motor runs, drum doesn't turn.
Failed door switch
No motor, no anything. The dryer doesn't know the door is closed, so it won't do anything.
Blown thermal fuse
Same fuse that causes no-heat problems. Different position on some models — and on some dryers it disables the motor instead.
Seized drum roller
A roller that's worn through will stop rotating, the drum won't move, and the belt eventually breaks trying.
Failed drive motor
Less common but does happen, especially on older units with a motor that's been straining against bad rollers for a while.
